Gunite Pool: An Overview

Swimming pool is a great add-on to every backyard. Whether it is an above ground or inground pool, it will surely make every weekend and vacation day extra fun and exciting. Moreover, swimming also helps in relaxation and body and mind re-conditioning.

Every types of residential pool is constructed from different materials and underwent different procedures. One of the types of pool that undergoes a unique procedure is the gunite pool. The term gunite is coined from the materials and process used in constructing the pool. 

Gunite type of pool is widely used in different parts of the world nowadays. In constructing this pool type, pool contractors use gunite which is specially formulated liquid concrete (a mixture of cement and sand mixed with water) that hardens as it dries. Once the pool site is excavated, a rigid framework of steel rods are built and wired together. Then the gunite is blown or sprayed on the steel frame using an extremely high-pressure. To achieve the desired smoothness the surface should be trowelled.

Pool coping and decking are layed once the gunite has fully dried. Then, pool tiles and other pool decorations are installed for the complete look of the pool. Gunite pool is the best choice of pool owners because it can easily be formed into a desired shape unlike the concrete type of pool.
